I have to start this blog entry with an apology to you for being so tardy with keeping in touch. While we don’t want to be spamming you all of the time (we know we all get enough o that) we also don’t want to be neglectful. Unfortunately we have been on the more neglectful side of things and we apologise for this.
We are aware we need to work on balance.
Speaking of balance, I have certainly had a lesson about where lack of balance takes you. Most of you will know that By Bec is our “side hustle” and both Tristan and I work fulltime as well. My job has been kind of crazy this year and I have ended up picking up responsibility and management of a large legal operation (around 150 staff, 10 managers, complex cases etc). Inevitably this has meant long hours at the office and a fair amount of travel. Needless to say my work/life balance went out the window and we were working all kinds of crazy hours while juggling work, the business, us, our fur baby and life in general. Unsurprisingly something had to give a little and it ended up being By Bec (social media, marketing, product development and actively seeking out new retailers – not the quality of our products though).
So now that we are in the lead up to Christmas I am trying to ensure that I work on balance in my life and taking some time for me/us which normally means a spa in the evening or burning one of our candles at home while reading a book.
We have not left By Bec in the dust completely though and we are excited to have worked with Makana (who make the most amazing chocolate - it's seriously good!) on an exclusive chocolate scented candle. That candle is now available in their stores in Blenheim, New Market (Auckland) and Kerikeri. While making those candles it was the one time I have been tempted to eat a candle. We also have come great new candles and accessories that we are launching soon (just in time for Christmas) and absolutely adore. So keep your eyes peeled.
